The growing environmental awareness of populations as well as of the management of Marinhave S.A. has resulted in the company embarking on a new activity, the production of worm humus and compost to solve the problem of sub-products from the production of ducks, such as manure and unusable feathers, resulting in organic fertilisers of excellent quality.

The compost is a product completely sterilised of damaging bacteria harmful to plants and soil. All seeds with the ability to germinate are removed to ensure that once incorporated in the soil they do not germinate and infest the crops with undesirable plants. This is achieved with high temperatures inside the compost heaps, which sometimes reach a temperature of 70º C for periods that are sufficiently long to guarantee sterility and the death of any seed in the compost.

Our compost produces excellent organic manure that due to its scientific characteristics allows for the correction of M.O. and PH and provides the soil with large quantities of Macro and Micronutrients and therefore the application of chemical manure can be mostly eliminated.

Due to its physical characteristics, it substantially improves the structure of the soil, thus increasing the air supply and the ability to absorb water, reducing the need for irrigation and ensuing costs, as well as obviously reducing the leaching of nutrients.

Another and perhaps the most important characteristic of this product is the beneficial bacterial flora that it contains, which increases soil activity and in turn increases its productivity. It works as an inoculum for the humification process in the soil.

It may also be used as a substrate for potting ornamental plants. It is an excellent product for this purpose due to its structure.
